We spent the next 8 months sorting out all the admin of registering a non profit organization and getting all our members together.
We had one crucial expedition to the Transkei (South Africa) and I choose this remote rural part of South Africa to see if what we have achieved in Mozambique was going to be a universal trend and this expedition was going to tell us if the whole concept was going to work or not. I believed that a destination not to far from a very civilized almost first world country was going to tell us if we could continue with The Memory Foundation throughout the developing world.
We arrived at Mdumbi and we were welcomed by kids asking for almost anything they can think of and we left a week later with kids asking for pictures. December 2009 was the expedition that made me realize that, despite all the other benefits and possibilities, The Memory Foundation was a necessity and that it would one day be a massive global concept.
